Med pianist Michael Endres

Since winning the International Schubert Competition, pianist and Professor for piano at Barratt Due Institute of Music Michael Endres has recorded extensively Schubert’s piano music to greatest international acclaim.

Schubert’s last 2 sonatas were written during the last months of his life in 1828 and are truly visionary works, anticipating many later musical developments in the 20 th century.

They mirror Schubert’s last song cycle «Winterreise» in their sense of alienation and struggle for harmony.

William Bolcom’s «Hymne a l’amour», composed in 1985 reflects on these Schubertian issues.
